Customize and translate text

Follow these instructions to customize and translate the various standard texts in online spreadsheets and web forms generated by SpreadsheetConverter.

Although the SpreadsheetConverter program itself is currently only available in English, the conversion process and the conversion results can be used with any language. For an overview of the translation features, please begin by reading the Translation Overview.

The text management features in SpreadsheetConverter also allow English-language users to adapt all application-generated texts to their individual needs – add a business term to the input prompts, the help desk’s phone number to critical error messages or use local terminology like Process instead of Submit in button labels.

Customize text

The Customize text settings in the Options > User Settings window control most of the built-in language support.

  • Message Dialogs
Use your own vocabulary when telling website users that a form is missing certain mandatory input fields. Customize or translate the information that is provided when an electronic form is submitted, or when Offline Submit kicks in because the user is offline when trying to submit a form.
  • Wizard buttons
Customize the Next and Previous buttons found in a step-by-step “wizard” dialog, and of course the Cancel and Finish buttons.
  • Toolbar buttons
Change the text used for Submit, Print and the other standard buttons on the toolbar: Print All, Reset and Update.
  • Node.js Secure Login
When a web calculator or electronic form should be available for authenticated users only, you can create a login page when converting for Node.js. All the text on this page can be changed any way you like it.
